(DOE) Synopsis The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for
maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the overall functionality of
Flagstaff Shelter Services three properties, including two
hotel-to-housing projects. The role requires a hands-on individual
with broad knowledge of general repairs, preventative maintenance,
and facility improvements, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and
well-maintained environment for staff and residents. - - - Team

other staff members. Decisions related to maintenance and facility
operations should be made with input from the team, considering the

Care - In maintaining the physical environment, the Maintenance
Technician will ensure that all actions reflect the organizations
commitment to compassionate, trauma-informed care. This includes
maintaining facilities that support the dignity and well-being of
all clients, recognizing signs of trauma, and ensuring that
maintenance activities do not contribute to re-traumatization. -
Service Orientation - The Maintenance Technician will approach all
maintenance tasks with the understanding that their work supports
the agencys mission to serve individuals experiencing homelessness.
The Coordinator will prioritize the needs of the clients and the
organization, ensuring that all facilities are in optimal condition
to provide emergency shelter and promote housing stability. -
Operational Standards - The Maintenance Technician will ensure that
all maintenance activities are conducted efficiently and in
accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This includes
maintaining accurate documentation, following safety protocols, and
contributing to a clean, safe, and organized work environment that
upholds the highest standards of care and professionalism. -
Professional Representation - In interactions with contractors,
vendors, and other external parties, the Maintenance Technician
will represent Flagstaff Shelter Services professionally. All
interactions should reflect the agencys values and mission,
maintaining a positive image and ensuring that the best interests
of the clients and the organization are upheld. - - -
Responsibilities Receive inspection notes from peers and Facilities
Manager and execute repairs on building systems including plumbing,
electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general handyman tasks across all
properties. Support the unique maintenance needs of the
organizations hotel-to-housing projects, including room repairs,
fixture replacements, and regular upkeep of living spaces. Propose
reasonable recommendations to the Facilities Manager for ways to
improve preventative maintenance schedule and increase the
efficiency of repairs made. Develop and implement a preventive
maintenance schedule to ensure the longevity and functionality of
facilities and equipment. Coordinate with property managers and
site staff to prioritize maintenance tasks and ensure that all
three properties are properly serviced in a timely manner. Work
with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or
services, ensuring work is completed according to organizational
standards and timelines. Work with peers, Facilities Manager, and
external contractors to maintain understanding of all repairs made
to avoid overlap or disintegration of repairs made by contractors.
Ensure all facilities comply with local building codes and health
and safety regulations. Perform safety checks, correct hazards, and
maintain documentation of all maintenance work. Respond to
emergency repair requests on short notice, ensuring that urgent
issues are resolved efficiently. Track and maintain an inventory of
maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment. Keep a true and
accurate account of all work done, in accordance with the
expectations of the Facilities Manager, to ensure all maintenance
on our facilities are tracked and well understood. Work closely
with other staff members, including case managers and housing
specialists, to address facility needs that impact residents and
service delivery. - - - Qualifications Strong organizational and
project management skills. Customer service orientation with the
ability to address and resolve issues effectively. Decision-making
skills, with the ability to assess situations and make informed
choices. Problem-solving abilities, including analytical and
critical thinking. Basic computer skills for daily operations and
record-keeping. Knowledge of quality and risk management practices.
Proficient in data entry, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Ability
to multitask, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work
independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize all tasks
effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge and skills in reading and interpreting blueprints,
including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general construction
plans. Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and endure long
periods of standing or walking. Capability to work both
independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Experience
working in social services or a related field is a plus.
Exeperience in Construction, Engineering, trades, or a related
field preferred. Proficiency in using maintenance management
software and tools. Proven experience in building maintenance,
repairs, and facilities management. Proficiency in general handyman
skills including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations, with a commitment to
maintaining a safe environment for staff and residents. Experience
in multi-property maintenance is a plus, particularly in a
residential or housing project setting. Valid drivers license and
reliable transportation. - - - Environment Must be able to walk
around the property. Perform lifting (50 lbs. or more) Work is
performed in a shelter, office, and outdoor environment. Frequent
bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling may be required while
performing job functions. Shifts may require long periods of
standing and walking. There may be exposure to cleaning agents and
allergens. Employees may be subject to loud/frequent noise,
disruptive behavior, or human crises involving substance abuse or
