Details can be found on the HR website.Job DescriptionThe organization provides support for BusinessPlus (former known as IFAS), a financial system used in 10 Education Technology Consortium member school districts. The member districts who use this support never speak with the vendor; instead, all support, training, maintenance, administration, and troubleshooting is provided by the department. This position provides senior level or tier three support, handling the more difficult issues and problems related to the financial software and use of the software.Over the next 6-12 months, the department will transition from the current financial system to a new system. This position will be key to the successful data conversion process and will be instrumental in analyzing the local business requirements of each member district to ensure the new software is setup to meet local needs.Job Description:Analyze problems to find solutions that 1) preserve financial integrity for audit purposes, 2) meet generally accepted accounting practices, 3) follow USFR guidelines, and 4) solve the problem in the most efficient manner, minimizing extra work on behalf of the user and the ETC.Responds to customer requests of high complexity that typically require change or release management functions to be executed. Interacts with the customers in a courteous and professional manner.Develops overall project task list for application system analysis, estimates and resource plans for small to medium scale projects.Evaluate all new Federal and State reporting requirements. Coordinate with other department staff to determine how best to comply. Analyze procedures, rewriting when necessary, to ensure tasks can be completed by the end-user or ETC help desk staff efficiently and with minimal chance for error. Training documentation is prepared or revised as needed.Plan the testing of software releases. This includes identifying and planning for testing requirements, setting up an appropriate test bed to include the functions our supported districts use, following processes through all stages such as ensuring not only that a payroll includes correct pay amounts, but that the correct amounts are reported for taxes, retirement, employee benefits, and that the payroll is correctly encumbered and correctly posts as a voucher in the general ledger. The testing plan must include ensure that ETC specialized reporting and other functions developed internally continue to operate, or if not, notify the department supervisor so that the programming and development staff can make appropriate alterations to these functions. Testing is done by all ETC staff, including this position, but the scope is set by the analyst to ensure data and business continuity.Responsible for database analysis using SQL queries for maintenance, troubleshooting, and system updates on failed processes. A complete understanding of the software data structure is essential as is as a thorough understanding of fund accounting.This position assists users with ledger adjustments and other financial adjustments to ensure procedural accuracy as well as audit integrity.Work with member districts on implementing new modules. This requires analyzing local system needs, customizing the software to meet the requirements, testing both internally and with users for local acceptance, preparing procedures, and training users. Responsible for working with customers in the design, support and maintenance and deployment of applications as well as the information support processes.Diagnose and resolve complex problem management and provide guidance to other team members. Maintains knowledge management database for problem reporting and resolution. Escalates issues when necessary.Use HTML/C##/SQL to make minor page customizations to vendor software at customer request, and to produce ad hoc reports as needed.NAU is currently engaged in an Organizational Growth and Effectiveness Initiative, which focuses on positioning the University for future success of its operational practices. As a result, some aspects of this position may be subject to change, such as, but not limited to: duties, titles, reporting structure, etc.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related field AND four years of demonstrated experience in business process work; ORSeven years of procedural, technical, management, or systems analysis work; ORAny equivalent combination of directly related experience, training and/or education.Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesKnowledge of education administrative systems and related business principals such as fund accounting and generally accepted accounting principles, practices and procedures.Knowledge of the USFR for Arizona School Districts.Skill in performing detailed numerical computations.Demonstrated experience with financial software. Experience with complex data conversion and software implementations.Excellent skill with Excel is required, and must have the ability to write and perform SQL queries and commands.Background InformationThis position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus and NAU-Fort Defiance as these campuses have on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. Pine Knoll Drive in Flagstaff.SalaryCommensurate with experience.**The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.FLSA StatusThis position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.BenefitsThis is a Classified Staff (CLS) position.
