Salary For GS-05: $36,861 (Step 01) to $47,915 (Step 10); Salary For GS-06: $41,088 (Step 01) to $53,420 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01. Responsibilities As an Administrative Operations Assistant within the Astrogeology Science Center, some of your specific duties will include: Serves as a travel specialist advising employees on travel procedures and regulations, including use of government owned or leased vehicles. Serves as payroll specialist advising employees on time and attendance procedures and regulations. Assisting employees with the use of the QuickTime automated time and attendance system. Receives purchase orders, travel orders, expenditure and similar documents for obligation against authorized funds. Obligation and processing payments in an automated financial management system and determining status of funds. Utilize and monitor various integrated systems and office automation software to compile, analyze and maintain integrated reporting systems. Physical Demands: The work is sedentary. Exercises initiative in completing recurring assignments; uses judgment in selecting appropriate guidelines and procedures from among a number of specific references. GS-6: One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Example of GS-5 level work: Performs standard and nonstandard assignments involving different and unrelated processes or methods in varying sequence; work requires extensive knowledge of rules, operations, or business practices. Follows accepted practices in resolving nonrecurring problems and meeting deadlines; completed products are evaluated for effectiveness in meeting goals; extensive guidelines in the form of instructions, manuals, and regulations are applied.
