Job Title: Asst/Assoc Clinical Professor - Nursing Location: Nursing Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Full-Time Job ID: 604328 Special Information There are three openings for a 9-month academic year, non-tenure track position located on the Flagstaff campus beginning August 19, 2019. This position is not eligible for sponsorship, now or in the future. Job Description Faculty member will be responsible for teaching theory and clinical courses in the undergraduate and graduate nursing program across all nursing specialty areas, specifically in adult health nursing. In addition to teaching, the faculty is expected to serve on school committees and advise students. Must be willing to travel to distant sites. Minimum Qualifications Assistant Clinical Professor Master's degree in Nursing Minimum of three years of nursing clinical experience Prior nursing teaching experience Eligible for RN license in Arizona Associate Clinical Professor -All of the above and: Six years of teaching nursing at college or university National certification in nursing specialty OR Doctoral degree in nursing or related field Preferred Qualifications Prior experience teaching in baccalaureate nursing education Prior experience teaching in graduate nursing education Experience teaching with high-fidelity simulation Doctoral degree in nursing or related field Teaching experience in nursing using distance learning technology Experience with rural healthcare Evidence of commitment to a diverse population Advanced practice certification General Information The nursing programs at Northern Arizona University have achieved statewide recognition through a unique educational focus on rural health care, partnerships with community college nursing programs, and leadership using distance technologies. Programs are geared at increasing access to nursing education at both the graduate and undergraduate levels for students in rural communities. Currently, the School of Nursing has distinct options for students seeking baccalaureate, masters and doctoral (DNP) degrees in nursing. Options include a traditional pre-licensure four (4) year option, a twelve month accelerated BSN option, an RN to BSN option, a concurrent enrollment program partnering with Community Colleges across urban and rural Arizona, and a Personalized Learning Program. We offer the traditional pre-licensure option at a site on the Navajo Nation in Fort Defiance, Arizona, Tucson and Yuma as well as the main campus in Flagstaff. Our graduate programs are offered in an online format and include a DNP, general master of science in nursing, or a master of science nurse practitioner track. Northern Arizona University has a student population of 31,073, including approximately 23,000 on its main campus in Flagstaff and the remainder at more than 20 locations statewide and online. Background Information Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States. Finally, each year the Northern Arizona University Police Department releases an annual security report. The report is a result of the federal law known as the Clery Act and contains policy statements that address the school's policies, procedures and programs concerning safety and security including policies for responding to emergency situations and sexual offenses. The report contains three years of data for Clery reportable crime statistics for the campus along with the most current year's Fire Safety Report, which includes policy statements and fire statistics for Flagstaff on-campus student housing. Salary Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits This is a Faculty (FAC) position. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). Employees will have 31 days from date of hire to enroll in benefits, and their benefits will then be effective the first day of the pay period following their completed enrollment. If a new employee chooses the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) retirement option, participation in the ASRS Plan (and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it) will begin on the first of the pay period following 183 days of employment. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP; an alternative to the ASRS plan) will begin to participate on the first day of employment. The long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period following 90 days of employment.
