Job Description:

Physician Assistant - Orthopaedics opening in Flagstaff, AZ Seeking a Physician Assistant for a hybrid role covering general orthopedic clinic duties and operating room responsibilities. The role involves assessing patient health, providing acute and chronic care, assisting in surgeries, and participating in hospital rounds. Essential Functions: - Assess patient health status, compliance with care plans, and determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.- Provide acute and chronic patient care, including history-taking, physicals, monitoring therapies, administering injections and medications, and suturing wounds.- Triage patient calls, evaluate patient problems, and respond to emergencies, including CPR.- Document patient information and care in records, maintaining confidentiality.- Educate patients and families, ensuring continuity of care.- Assist physicians in surgeries in the operating room.- Participate in hospital rounds and respond to patient calls after hours and on weekends.- Consult with other staff as necessary. Requirements: - Education: BA/BS, MS preferred. Graduate of an AMA-accredited physician assistant program.- Experience: Experience in orthopedics is required.- License/Certification: Current state PA license, certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, current CPR certification. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Knowledge of acute and chronic protocols, medication administration, and delivering physical care following treatment plans.- Ability to gather and analyze physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.- Skill in evaluating patient problems and providing appropriate advice, intervention, or referral.- Ability to make responsible decisions within the scope of a dependent medical practitioner.- Ability to develop health education programs and collaborate with the healthcare team.
