Job Description:
The Physical Therapist I is responsible for establishing quality
care for the patients sent to Summit Healthcare Regional Medical
Center, supervision of Physical Therapy Assistants, Physical
Therapy Techs and establishing appropriate goals and implementation
in patient care. Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities: -
Performs patient evaluations, formulates plans, and provides direct
patient care and supervise Physical Therapy Techs and Physical
Therapy Assistants. - Appropriately documents patient evaluations
and progress notes for all patients. - Appropriately documents
patient evaluations and progress on a daily basis. - Sends initial
evaluations and progress reports in a timely fashion. - Aids in
implementation of new policies and procedures. - Addresses
pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient and family
concerns, demonstrating specific knowledge of the needs,
development and care and/or treatment of the pediatric, adolescent,
adult and geriatric patient population. - Completes continuing
competence for a two (2) year renewal period. - Notifies AZ Board
with name and address change within 30 days. - Adheres to
applicable State of Arizona licensure statutes and applicable
national standards such as but not limited to American Physical
Therapists Association (APTA) as required to maintain professional
designation. - Effective communication with patients, families, and
staff. - Maintains a safe and clean environment in the Physical
Therapy department. - Promotes the Patient Safety Standards as a
core value of the organization. - Keeps patients informed about
their care and treatment plan. Secondary Functions /
Responsibilities: - Participates in departmental and association
wide informational meetings and in-services, including staff
meetings, association wide forums, and seminars. - Reviews
department and association wide policies and procedures annually.
Develops and maintains new policies and procedures as needed.
Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may
be assigned at any time with or without notice. Additional /
Seasonal Responsibilities: - Special projects as assigned, such as
but not limited to chart audits, training within the department or
organization, etc. Abilities: - Presents a professional image in
apparel and appearance, neat and clean, with name badge highly
visible. - Treats the people we serve as guests by being courteous,
making eye contact, smiling, introducing yourself, and addressing
people by name whenever possible. - Answers the telephone with a
“smile”. Identify yourself and ask how you can help the caller. -
Listens to one another and to the people we serve, then responds
promptly and reliably. - Ability to perform all duties of a
Physical Therapy Assistant. - Demonstrated competence in:
Biofeedback, Ultrasound, Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation,
Functional Electrical Stimulation, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve
Stimulation, Cervical Traction, Moist Hot Pack Machine, Cold Pack
Machine, Pool, Whirlpool, Iontophoresis, Ultraviolet Therapy,
Paraffin, Dynamometer and Goniometer, Low Level Laser Light
Therapy. - Demonstrated competence in exercise machines:
Hydrofitness, Stair Climber, Bikes, Treadmills, Ellipticals,
Nu-Steps, Ultrasound Machine, SciFit, Hoist Machines (Leg Press,
Lateral Pull Down, Pulleys), Chest Press, Row, Knee Extension, Ab
Crunches. - Expertise in at least one specialty area of physical
therapy including but not limited to: Pediatrics, Gender
Healthcare, Geriatrics, Wound Care, Cardiopulmonary, Hand Therapy,
Vestibular, Lymphedema, and Neurological Rehabilitation. - Must
read, write, speak, and understand English. Supervisory
Responsibilities: - Daily supervision of Physical Therapy
Assistants and Physical Therapy Techs within scope of practice.

occasionally, and/or 10 to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or
greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move
objects. The worker is subject to contact with chemicals, contact
with infectious fluids, constant standing, and encounters with
upset/disturbed individuals Physical motions include finger
dexterity, standing, walking, stooping, crawling, talking,
reaching, feeling, sitting, bending, kneeling, climbing, grasping,
listening/hearing, handling, lifting up to 50-100 pounds, and
repetitive motions of the hands, wrists, and feet. Required
Education and Experience - Graduate from an accredited Physical
Therapy program. - Licensed in the state of Arizona. - CPR/BLS
certification (within 30 days of hire). - ACLS certification. OSHA
Exposure Category: Involves no regular exposure to blood, body
fluids, or tissues, but may require unplanned tasks that involve
exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. This is a safety
sensitive position.
