Job Description This position is full-time and benefit eligible. Preferred start date, May 1, 2019. This position will be hired as either a Counselor or a Psychologist. The Office of Employee Assistance and Wellness (EAW) provides counseling, consultation, critical incident response, conflict management, training, organizational support, health screenings, and other health and wellness services to NAU faculty and staff and their adult family members. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of six professionals: psychologists, a counselor, a health educator, and an administrative associate. The mission of the office is to provide opportunities to promote and enhance individual and organizational wellbeing for NAU faculty and staff. The successful candidate will possess a high level of emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills, and will be self-motivated, committed to excellence, and skillful in counseling and training. The successful candidate will also have knowledge of and interest in consultation (such as assessing workplace needs or problems, and providing coaching/support to individuals and departments). The counselor/trainer will work with a wide range of individuals as a clinical generalist, trainer, and organizational consultant. Importantly, the candidate selected must be committed to embracing a wellness focus in all aspects of the position, and be motivated to work in a collaborative environment. Psychologist job duties include: Short-term individual, couples, family, and group counseling for NAU faculty and staff and their adult dependents Develop and present customized training programs for departments and work groups Develop and present training programs for the EAW wellness series Consultation for NAU employees/supervisors on an individual and departmental basis Critical incident services during the work day with individual and groups Administrative duties associated with office projects and clinical services Participation in EAW office planning, development, and team-based projects Participation on university and community committees and projects Supervision of students and or interns Other duties as assigned Counselor job duties include: Short-term individual, couples, family, and group counseling for NAU faculty and staff and their adult dependents Develop and present customized training programs for departments and work groups Develop and present training programs for the EAW wellness series Consultation for NAU employees/supervisors on an individual and departmental basis Critical incident services during the work day with individual and groups Administrative duties associated with office projects and clinical services Participation in EAW office planning, development, and team-based projects Participation on university and community committees and projects Supervision of students and or interns Other duties as assigned NAU is currently engaged in an Organizational Growth and Effectiveness Initiative, which focuses on positioning the University for future success of its operational practices. As a result, some aspects of this position may be subject to change, such as, but not limited to: duties, titles, reporting structure, etc. Minimum Qualifications Psychologist: Doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology AND Currently licensed, or license eligible as an LP in Arizona AND Five (5) years counseling/clinical experience AND Three (3) years of training experience AND Experience developing, presenting, and training on a variety of mental/behavioral health and wellness related topics Experience with critical incident response services AND Knowledge of and interest in consultation Counselor: Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or social work AND Currently licensed, or license eligible as an LPC, LMFT, LCSW in Arizona AND Five (5) years counseling/clinical experience AND Three (3) years of training experience AND Experience developing, presenting, and training on a variety of mental/behavioral health and wellness related topics Experience with critical incident response services AND Knowledge of and interest in consultation Preferred Qualifications Eight (8) or more years of counseling/clinical experience Five (5) or more years of training and presenting experience Experience training supervisory level staff Organizational consultation experience with individuals and groups Conflict management experience Experience in a higher education setting Experience working in an Employee Assistance Program Experience assessing, coordinating, and evaluating training programs Knowledge Skills and Abilities Sensitivity and ability to provide confidential services to NAU colleagues while at the same time functioning as a member of the NAU community Knowledge and ability to apply DSM-5 Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Ability and desire to work as part of a team Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently Initiative and creativity Knowledge of and sensitivity to diversity issues and the ability to work with a diverse employee population, including their dependents and partners Awareness of and commitment to the NAU EEO/Affirmative Action Plan and Safe Working and Learning Environment goals Salary Commensurate with experience. The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. FLSA Status This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked. Benefits This is a Service Professional (SPF) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System or the Optional Retirement Program; 22 days of vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. Service Professionals are hired on a contract basis, renewable each 6 months according to terms of the Conditions of Professional Service. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. If a new employee chooses the ASRS retirement option, participation in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, will begin on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), which is an alternative to the ASRS plan for faculty and other appointed staff, will begin to participate on the first day of employment.
