Special Information This is a full-time (40 hours per week) 10-month position as a Service Professional for the School of Nursing on the Flagstaff campus. This position is benefit eligible. Annual renewal of contract is based on job performance and budget constraints. This position may require travel to distant sites. This position may require weekend or evening work. Job Description Collaborate with faculty to prepare a semester calendar that provides for maximum utilization of the lab facilities for students during their program of study. Conduct clinical simulations with faculty. Maintain labs for independent practice of skills, skills demonstrations and skills testing. Maintain organization of lab materials by course level. Maintain evening and weekend lab hours as required by student schedules. Conduct open lab sessions for student practice of skills, skills demonstrations and skills testing. Maintain a file of charting materials from various clinical settings. Coordinate with manager to order lab supplies as needed. Assemble and disassemble equipment for faculty and student use. Inventory linens, instructional supplies and equipment. Serve as a resource to faculty in the area of skills practice and equipment. Receive referrals from faculty regarding individual student review/practice/remediation of skills. Remediate students in practice of skills, skills demonstrations and skills testing. Evaluate performance of referred students. Assist with skills demonstrations and labs. Provide support and assistance during lab practical exams. Assist with skills testing of students requesting reinstatement to pre-licensure program. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications MS in Nursing (or in process of earning MS in Nursing) Three years nursing patient care experience Eligible for RN license in Arizona Preferred Qualifications Experience in Clinical simulation Teaching experience in Nursing Knowledge Skills and Abilities Excellent organizational skills Basic computer skills Inventory supply and tracking Demonstrated understanding of the needs of culturally diverse students Experience in health care of rural populations Background Information This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States. Finally, each year the Northern Arizona University Police Department releases an annual security report. The report is a result of the federal law known as the Clery Act and contains policy statements that address the school's policies, procedures and programs concerning safety and security including policies for responding to emergency situations and sexual offenses. The report contains three years of data for Clery reportable crime statistics for the campus along with the most current year's Fire Safety Report, which includes policy statements and fire statistics for Flagstaff on-campus student housing. The report may be viewed at nau.edu/clery or by visiting the NAUPD website . Salary Commensurate with experience. The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. FLSA Status This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked. General Information The nursing programs at Northern Arizona University have achieved statewide recognition through a unique educational focus on rural health care, partnerships with community college nursing programs, and leadership using distance technologies. Programs are geared at increasing access to nursing education at both the graduate and undergraduate levels for students in rural communities. Currently, the School of Nursing has distinct options for students seeking baccalaureate, masters and doctoral (DNP) degrees in nursing. Options include a traditional pre-licensure four (4) year option, a twelve month accelerated BSN option, an RN to BSN option, a concurrent enrollment program partnering with Community Colleges across urban and rural Arizona, and a Personalized Learning Program.
