The Center for International Education (CIE) within NAU seeks to inspire ambassadors of positive change and collaborative and innovative responses to a changing world. This Coordinator position within the International Admissions & Recruitment division of CIE will support student success, excellence in education, diversity, and integrity by working directly with student applicants, faculty, and staff to create a smooth and efficient application process. The position consists of student applicant interaction, direct recruitment, and document processing responsibilities. Identifying and enacting process improvements in all three areas will increase student applicant satisfaction and support NAU's ability to continually diversify the types of students admitted. The Coordinator will serve as a guide through the different requirements and options students have depending on their specific situations and uphold the standards that make NAU an attractive option for international students. NAU is ranked in IIE's Open Doors within the top 200 US institutions for international student enrollment and proud to host over 1400 international students from more than 80 countries. As a result, some aspects of this position may be subject to change, such as, but not limited to: duties, titles, reporting structure, etc. Job Description Coordinate International Admissions & Recruitment (IAR) processing which includes data entry of applications, processing of online applications, as well as receipt and entry of transcripts, other academic credentials and financial support. Recruit from community colleges in the United States, including developing relationships with counselors and staff and attending fairs and making school visits Assist with transfer credit posting and processes for IAR, including verifying authenticity, establishing GPA equivalency, evaluating, and posting. Evaluate and improve international admissions output, workflow, and help ensure that application and prospect review occurs efficiently and effectively. Review application materials, make international admission decisions according to established criteria, and send admission/denial letters. Work cooperatively with faculty, staff in departments across campus, and students to facilitate admission processing and decisions Assist with training and communicating with NAU faculty and staff on international admissions processing. Remain current on student related immigration regulations and credential evaluation procedures and policies through participation in internal and external trainings, seminars, conferences, and other professional opportunities. Develop and document procedures that guarantee compliance with US immigration regulations, including maintaining relevant records, reports, and statistics. Assist in the development of student information materials Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Student Affairs, International Affairs, Business, Sociology, Education, or a related degree Worked, lived, or studied abroad Two year's professional experience in education or business Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training Preferred Qualifications Three years' professional experience in international education, admissions, or student recruitment Master's degree in Student Affairs or a field relevant to international student recruitment Experience with PeopleSoft, SalesForceor other university-related student management systems Experience using Sunapsis Fluent in at least one language in addition to English Knowledge Skills and Abilities Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships Skill in English composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation Skill in basic math in order to convert GPAs to a 4.0 scale Skill in the use of personal computer/software Ability to problem solve and make decisions Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds and for whom English is not their native language Background Information This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States. Finally, each year the Northern Arizona University Police Department releases an annual security report. The report is a result of the federal law known as the Clery Act and contains policy statements that address the school's policies, procedures and programs concerning safety and security including policies for responding to emergency situations and sexual offenses. The report contains three years of data for Clery reportable crime statistics for the campus along with the most current year's Fire Safety Report, which includes policy statements and fire statistics for Flagstaff on-campus student housing. The report may be viewed at nau.edu/clery or by visiting the NAUPD website . Salary The budgeted salary for this positions is $41,232 - $50,286. Commensurate with experience. The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. FLSA Status This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked. Benefits This is a Service Professional (SPF) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System or the Optional Retirement Program; 22 days of vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. If a new employee chooses the ASRS retirement option, participation in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, will begin on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), which is an alternative to the ASRS plan for faculty and other appointed staff, will begin to participate on the first day of employment. Additionally, the long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of employment.
