Nature of Work

Coconino County Health and Human Services is seeking nurses to join our team. Successful candidates will perform clinical nursing tasks at mobile and community-based events throughout the County, such as COVID-19 immunization and support duties, COVID-19 testing and during community-based events throughout the County, education of patients and the community about the importance of disease prevention and health promotion, seasonal influenza immunization, and other needs related to community nursing and health.

Under direction, performs professional nursing care under a specialty public health program; performs related work as assigned.

Note:This position is a temporary, full-time position. This position is contingent on grant funding through June 2024.This position is open until filled. Temporary positions are not benefits eligible and do not accrue vacation leave but may receive health benefits through the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Due to the full time hours of this position, health benefits will be offered through the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Typical Duties

  • Performs clinical nursing duties and/or support duties at COVID-19 immunization sites throughout the county
  • Follows all CDC guidelines surrounding immunization administration in both clinical settings and outdoor drive-through and walk-up settings
  • Performs COVID-19 testing duties and off-site testing events throughout the county
  • Provides immunization services for infants, children and adults, which includes administering vaccines and client education related to immunizations
  • Ensures the provision of care according to program policies and standing orders, and local, state, and federal regulations, including facilitating annual Arizona Department of Health Services Licensure
  • Networks with and refers to community resources appropriate to client's need
  • Participates in orientation and clinical supervision of medical support staff
  • Documents in and maintains individual electronic client records
  • Educates and counsels clients, families and the community in health promotion and disease prevention
  • Interviews/counsels clients and conducts screenings and assessments
  • Identifies and networks with a variety of community resources to address client needs and provides service coordination as needed
  • Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve division objectives

Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: driving; working with and around others; vision acuity (near) for client physical assessment; vision acuity (far) and color vision for driving; communicating with staff, clients, etc. Traveling to outlying areas in the county, possibly outside of normal business hours as well as walking and standing for long periods of time in all types of weather. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing and three years of clinical nursing experience; OR, any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.


Must possess a current Arizona RN license, a current CPR certification. Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment.

This position is safety sensitive.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent customer service skills and communication skills. The ideal candidate has schedule flexibility and the ability to cover clinic and/or events as needed (including Saturday and non-traditional weekday hours) during peak season(s) and scheduled or unscheduled absences of other staff.
