Job Description Location: Kingman, AZ LINES OF AUTHORITY: This
position is supervised by the Nursing Manager. Supervises shift
staff of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN's) and Human Service Worker
(HSW's) in Hospital. POSITION SUMMARY: Provide care and safety to
patients admitted to Hospital. Care includes dispensing medications
as ordered by MMHC physician, performing Accu Cheks, providing a
therapeutic and educational program via Educational Protocols,
performing lab tests and supervising staff LPN's and HSW's in the
performance of their duties. PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides care and safety to patients admitted to Hospital, as
evidenced by AEB direct observation, current Arizona License,
current CPR (annual), and current Crisis-to-Care (CTC) Training
refresher course (every six months). Makes assignments for the
staff each day, AEB direct observation and Daily Assignment Sheet.
Monitors Hospital daily for compliance of safety issues and
infection control, AEB annual attendance and post test for
Universal Precautions/ Blood Borne Pathogens in-service and direct
observation. Ensures that Educational Protocols addressed in
individual Treatment Plans for each patient are completed each
shift, AEB Daily Assignment Sheet Group Monitoring Records, direct
observation and Individual Supervision Logs Registered nurse
supervisors are to work as a team and ensure that all rules and
regulations for both patients and staff are adhered to. AEB direct
observation, Patient Grievance Report, Incident/ Accident/ Death
Reports, Individual Supervision Logs Provides customer service to
internal and external customers and stakeholders as evidenced by
direct supervision, complaint resolution, and interviews with
customers. Participates in the Performance Improvement processes in
the Clinic, as evidenced by meeting notes, supervision logs, and
training logs. Ensures that Treatment Plan and Treatment Plan
Review(s) are current and address patient specific needs, problems
and goals, AEB audit of all Hospital records and Individual
Supervision Log. The employee must work well under pressure meeting
multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines. The employee shall,
at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and
supervisors. This is evidenced through direct observation and
interview with co-workers and supervisor. Performs other duties as
assigned, AEB direct observation, and review of assigned tasks.
Able to effectively de-escalate patients using techniques as
trained and outlined in approved crisis intervention models.
PRIMARY CONTACTS: Interaction with patients and their
families/significant others, peers, subordinates and other
community medical staffs. POSITION REQUISITES: Qualifications and
Experience : Current and valid Arizona Board of Registered Nurses
license and CPR Certification. Excellent health with no physical
limitations. No convictions for felonies or misdemeanor involving
substance abuse, sexual misbehavior or assault. Arizona fingerprint
clearance. Lack of clearance status as per licensing standard is
grounds for immediate dismissal. 21 years of age or older. R.N.
must be able to calibrate and perform Accu Cheks as per MMHC
policy, which includes doing a return demonstration in orientation
and annually thereafter. R.N. must be able to do lab draws per MMHC
policy, which includes doing a return demonstration in orientation
and annually thereafter. Preferred: 1-3 years experience in
Psychiatric Health Nursing Skills/Abilities Required: Possess

skills. Possess excellent social perceptiveness skills. Possess

FOR SPECIAL POPULATIONS: Persons conducting assessments and/or
providing treatment and/ or supervision for special populations are
able, through training and experience as well as through
agency-specific observation or competency testing of performance
to: CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY Staff responsible for providing services to
chemically dependent members has appropriate training, education,
experience, performance and demonstrate competency. Staff must be
able to gather and assess information about: The relationship of
each member's physical status to the dependence. The nature of the
emotional compulsion to use alcohol and/or other drugs. The
intensity of the member's preoccupation with using alcohol/and/or
other drugs. Staff must also demonstrate competency in their
ability to: Interpret information about a member's use of alcohol
and/or other drugs. Develop a written summary and/or treatment plan
based on member's problems and needs; Provide appropriate services.
CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS Staff responsible for providing services
to child and adolescent members have appropriate training,
education, experience, performance and demonstrate competency.
Staff demonstrates knowledge of growth and development of children
and adolescents. Staff demonstrates their ability to develop
treatment plans and services based on member's problem and needs.
Staff demonstrates knowledge and skill in working with family
systems. SERIOUSLY MENTALLY ILL Staff responsible for providing
services to seriously mentally ill members has appropriate
training, education, experience, performance and demonstrate
competency. Staff has knowledge and ability to gather and interpret
information about seriously mentally ill members. Staff understands
the member's needs and the range, intensity, and duration of care,
habilitation and rehabilitation required. INTELLECTUALLY DISABLED
Staff responsible for providing services to members with
intellectual disabilities has appropriate training, education,
experience, performance and demonstrate competency. Staff has
knowledge and ability to gather and interpret information about a
member with an intellectual disability. Staff understands the
member's needs and the range, intensity, and duration of care,
habilitation or rehabilitation required. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Requirements: Able to sit, stand and walk for extended
periods of time. Occasional lifting (5-10 lbs) and reaching. Able
to read and understand chart documents and other written
communications. Position may require assisting patients in
ambulating, eating and activities of daily living or assisting
other medical staff in the installation of restraints. Equipment
Operation Dictaphone, telephone, Fax, personal car, blood spinner,
weigh scales, sphygmomanometer, audio/visual equipment (TV and
VCR), washer and dryer, microwave, dishwasher. Environmental
Conditions Air conditioned and/or heated office setting.
