Job Description:

Field Supervisor and Mulcher/Masticator OperatorAnnual Salary:$80,000 with $1,500 signing bonus (no overtime or travel pay) This position requires camping in remote areas while working 40-60 hours per week outdoors with heavy equipment. Depending on the skills and experience of the candidate, an eight-week probationary period as an equipment operator paid hourly will be required to prove yourself as capable of learning new skills and taking on more responsibility. Other Compensation and Benefits: use of work truck, use of travel trailer, bonus pay, signing bonus, relocation assistance, health insurance reimbursement, paid time off, professional development/training, and opportunities for profit-sharing.Brief Job Overview: Skillful and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of Barko 930 and/or CAT 563C with FAE mulching head attachments while supervising (and occasionally training) two to three other mulcher operators working in remote areas throughout the State of Arizona. During the summer, there will be opportunities for significant additional compensation while working on federal wildfire contracts, which require camping on-site for up to 14 consecutive days. EXTENSIVE TRAINING will be required during the first six to twelve months; therefore, applicants should be fast and eager learners willing to commit to a three-to-five-year position. The applicant s attitude, work ethic, and ability to learn and follow instructions are the most important factors - we will train you in all other areas of responsibility. Experience in the following areas is preferred as a baseline for the more extensive training we will provide:

  • Operation of heavy equipment, preferably rubber-tired forestry equipment
  • Maintenance and repair of heavy equipment
  • Troubleshooting repairs on hydraulic systems and engines

      • Seasonal, continuously evolving schedule: Outdoor work with heavy equipment means the schedule changes frequently due to unpredictable factors including weather, forest closures, and equipment breakage (which create opportunities for other types of work including equipment maintenance/repair and training).
      • Travel and camping required: Working in remote areas requires camping on-site and sometimes traveling to all regions of Arizona. A work truck will be provided, and the use of a company-owned travel trailer can be negotiated. No travel or per diem pay is provided. A vast majority of our work occurs in northern Arizona.
      • Independence required: This position requires that the individual be able to successfully manage themselves, their campsite, and their camping-related logistics while working alone and/or overseeing a small team for several days at a time, sometimes in inclement weather.
      • Efficiency and reliability are always expected: This position requires an individual that can reliably and efficiently follow detailed and complex instructions regarding equipment operation and repair, map navigation, contract prescriptions, and other important items. If you are not someone who naturally works with a sense of urgency/efficiency and/or requires repeated correction after receiving instructions, please do not apply.Once trained, the individual in this position will be responsible for the following:
        • Skilled operation of the mulching equipment with high productivity rate expected
        • Ability to operate, maintenance, and repair equipment independently in remote areas
        • Management, supervision, and training of two other mulcher operators while simultaneously operating equipment yourself and ensuring adherence to contract specifications
        • Problem-solving and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform repairs in remote areas with the assistance of a service truckAdditional Requirements:
          • Reference from a previous employer
          • Clear 5-year MVD driving record (minor violations will be taken into consideration)
          • Clear background check and drug screen
          • Physical ability to bend, squat, and lift 50 pounds as well as climb equipment for repair, maintenance, and transport requirements
