Special Information This position includes occasional evening and weekend hours for provision of on-call coverage and outreach/educational programming. Job Description Northern Arizona University (NAU) seeks to fill a Latinx Specialist/Mental Health Clinician position in Counseling Services (CS) within Campus Health Services (CHS). The successful candidate will be an experienced psychologist, counselor, or social worker with established clinical, outreach and training experience serving diverse populations, with a professional focus on the needs of Latinx individuals. This individual will provide psychological programs and services to NAU students, with a focus on meeting the needs of Latinx students, including: indigenous Latinx students, Afro-Latinx students, students enrolled in the DACA program, undocumented students of various nationalities, students from mixed status families, immigrants, refugees, and first generation students. This individual will have the opportunity to strengthen outreach connections with diversity partners on campus, including the Office of Inclusion: Multicultural & LGBTQIA Student Services, the Office of Indigenous Student Success, and others. This individual will also provide training in diversity and inclusion to Counseling Services staff, doctoral interns, doctoral practicum students, and master's level trainees. NAU is currently engaged in an Organizational Growth and Effectiveness Initiative, which focuses on positioning the University for future success of its operational practices. As a result, some aspects of this position may be subject to change, such as, but not limited to: duties, titles, reporting structure, etc. Primary Responsibilities: Provide counseling services in the form of: Individual, group and couples counseling or initial assessments. Behavioral health consultation in our integrated primary care unit.Crisis appointments. On-call (after hours and weekend) coverage. Coordinate diversity and inclusion outreach programs, services, training and professional development for Counseling Services.Evaluate the effectiveness of services, outreach and training in diversity and inclusion. Participate in quality improvement and relevant clinical research projects as requested.Ensure record-keeping and clinical services meet legal, ethical, and accreditation standards. Provide training and supervision for Counseling Services' staff and trainees. Participate in case conference, psychiatric case conference and staff meetings in Counseling Services. Provide consultation and outreach services to the University community. Collaborate and consult with psychiatric, medical, and other mental health providers in Campus Health, Medical Services and in the local community. Provide case management and documentation in support of service provision.Serve on departmental and university committees as needed.Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Licensed or license eligible in the State of Arizona as a Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker within 12 months of hire date. Appropriate educational credentials in support of license. Demonstrated competency providing clinical services, outreach and training for diverse campus populations.At least 9 months experience in service provision to Latinx individuals. Demonstrated multicultural competence and commitment to diversity and inclusion in organizational development.Demonstrated experience providing clinical services for the wide range of presenting issues seen in college students, including risk assessment and management, and the treatment of serious concerns (e.g., eating disorders, personality disorders) . Preferred Qualifications Experience in a college or university counseling center.Experience providing training and supervision.Strong outreach and consultation skills. Experience providing process group therapy.Experience providing clinical services in Spanish.Experience providing clinical supervision in Spanish. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Highly effective interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to actively engage in clinical practice with students in ongoing counseling (with individuals, couples, groups), in crisis intervention, and in outreach programs.Ability to manage a full caseload within a time-limited clinical setting. Commitment to an integrated model of healthcare. Experience in the use of electronic/medical records systems; must be computer literate.Knowledge of college student development theories and practice. Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds, with specific experience in working with Latinx individuals, including Afro-Latinx and indigenous Latinx individuals.Awareness of and commitment to NAU's Affirmative Action Plan goals, Safe Working and Learning Environment Policy. Background Information This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States. Finally, each year the Northern Arizona University Police Department releases an annual security report. The report is a result of the federal law known as the Clery Act and contains policy statements that address the school's policies, procedures and programs concerning safety and security including policies for responding to emergency situations and sexual offenses. The report contains three years of data for Clery reportable crime statistics for the campus along with the most current year's Fire Safety Report, which includes policy statements and fire statistics for Flagstaff on-campus student housing. Salary Commensurate with experience and education. The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. FLSA Status This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked. Benefits This is a Service Professional (SPF) position.
