Position involves exposure to hazards and some exposure to ventilation problems, noise extremes, inclement weather, and requires response to emergency facilities repairs as needed. Employees of Facility Services are considered essential staff and must report to work when the university is closed for emergencies. This position is required to participate is on-call, call back duties and snow removal, which can include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Under established circumstances will respond to emergency dispatch calls within set timeframes Administrative or Residence Life buildings. Travel between campus locations is a regular part of the position. Helps coordinate BAS maintenance programs and building equipment repairs with building managers and the other Facility Services trades. This position exists to aid and assist Facility Services' mission to the University by providing superior customer service to the Campus community, exercising fiscal responsibility, and practicing sustainable maintenance and operations.This position is responsible for performing routine tasks including (but not limited to), general lock and electronic access equipment repairs and maintenance to facilities. The EAS completes daily maintenance logs and reports. Report concerns and condition of equipment for scheduled and deferred maintenance, and assist the other BAS staff with issues in their assigned buildings. This position works in a fast-paced environment and requires exceptional customer service skills. The person selected for this position must be a consistent and reliable self-starter, have a strong work ethic, a real teamwork mentality, be adaptable, a quick learner, and have excellent problem-solving skills. Duties and Responsibilities: (35%) Maintenance: Repair, Replace, & InstallFabricates, installs, maintains, repairs, modifies, adjusts and services mechanical locks, electronic access control systems, and related door hardware and equipment according to and NAU standards/specifications to meet technical requirements.Recodes seven chamber SFIC Best coresAdjusts doors, and any related hardware to doors are closing and latching in a proper manner.Applies general/preventive maintenance and repair programs to buildings and related utilities and support services equipmentDetects unsafe conditions, takes emergency action as prescribed and reports same to supervisor. Maintains a record of material used, equipment and man-hours expended.Operates state-owned vehicles in the course of work activities.Repairs and/or changes combinations on safes.Cuts new or duplicate keys from existing keys, patterns or codes.Opens locks for which there is no key or existing combinations both mechanical/electronic.Repairs and services mechanical/electrified "panic hardware" on doors.Helps all shops in maintaining accessibility to the campus for maintenance purposes.Rebuilds safes and other major locking devices mechanical and electronic as well as any supporting hardware.Provides day to day service and maintenance for assigned buildings and equipment maintenance schedules, to ensure the best use of resources available.
