Our work in TOC is collaborative and student-centered with the goal of connecting students with each other, helping them access resources, and supporting their academic success. Job Duties/Responsibilities Programmatic and Supervisory Responsibilities Develop and manage a peer mentor program for online students. Work with the TOC team and colleagues across campus to develop and maintain innovative, theory-based approaches toworking with online students. Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate a team of 10-20 peer mentors and a Graduate Assistant. Collaborate with other mentoring colleagues to develop and facilitate a specialized peer mentor curriculum in accordance with the College Reading and Learning Association accreditation standards. Coordinate and facilitate two in-person, multi-day trainings for the team. Facilitate weekly individual and team meetings, focusing on professional development, engagement and retention strategies, and student success coaching. Conduct observations of mentors to ensure goals and objectives are being met. Creatively utilize technology to help mentors connect with their mentees, to help students connect with one another, and to facilitate the work of a remote team. Develop partnerships with other campus departments to enhance program quality, expand resources for online students, and offer professional development opportunities for staff and online students. Promote campus-wide resources and services to online students. Assist with coordination and participate in in-person events and activities for online students around the state. Coordinate student outreach and call campaigns regarding enrollment, academic status, and other issues. Track program participation and outreach efforts in SalesForce and utilize Civitas to provide targeted support to program participants. Manage program marketing and communications, including social media. Planning and Assessment Responsibilities Strategically plan and implement program goals and initiatives and annually review and evaluate program effectiveness. Benchmark best practices, review the latest research, and assess current strategies to revise practices and incorporate emerging techniques and technologies for improving online student engagement and retention. Establish learning outcomes and conduct ongoing data-driven assessments. Develop surveys to assess student needs and accomplishment of program objectives. Provide monthly and annual program reports. Administrative Responsibilities Assist the Director with annual budget planning and monitoring of expenses. Encourage a positive image of the program through contact with students, family members, staff and faculty. Cultivate an inclusive work environment and create a program which celebrates and supports diverse students. Perform duties in alignment with NAU, Student Affairs, and Transfer and Online Connections' mission, values, and practices. Work together in a team setting to develop a strategic vision for the department, accomplish various projects, analyze and assess outcomes, and foster an environment of continuous improvement and innovation. Participate in university committees as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.
