The Role
The Splicer Network Technician is responsible for installation,
splicing, and testing of all fiber optic and copper cable within
multiple program networks.

The Main Responsibilities
* Installs, splices, and tests fiber as directed for Projects,
Operations, and Maintenance related activities and responding to
emergency events
* Performs dark fiber, and reel testing
* Performs routine repair of existing fiber to aggregation point,
providing continuity for entire fiber route
* Technicians perform maintenance on existing cables, including
evaluation tests and repairing old or malfunctioning cables
* Technicians cut and splice fiber optic cables, locate problem
areas and perform other repairs as needed
What We Look For in a Candidate
* Skilled individual with extensive working knowledge of hand and
power tools. Knowledge of fiber optic test and installation
equipment
* Requires individual capable of dealing with multiple agencies and
personnel to assist with installation and permitting processes
* Strong people skills
* Good penmanship, drafting and verbal skills
* Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
* Able to work in manholes, CEVs and splice pits
* Good physical condition - capable of standing all day and walking
several miles to engineer cable routes in remote locations or to
follow construction equipment and crews while filling in for an
inspector
* Able to work on drawings and spreadsheets for extended
periods
* Able to work overtime, when necessary
* Successful completion and passage of all applicable employment
assessments and interviews.
* Safety habits/compliance with all OSHA and other safety protocols
and policies
* Willing/able to work standby rotation and accept callouts
Education and Experience
* Completed basic courses in basic electricity, cable
splicing/maintenance, basic cable transmission, cable air pressure
or equivalent job experience.
* Two or more years applicable work experience
* Valid driver's license
* Travel required

may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills,
experience and other relevant factors.
This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales
